Really well done over all! I'd have to say I like this piece and how you managed to get the details in there, it looks good, real, and the expression on her face is well...Not enough, It could be a little more bashful perhaps? Embarrassment? Lust? Something along those lines. Only other thing that sorta caught my attention was her mane. I believe if we look at multiple pieces of art, we'll see that Luna has a two tone mane, one darker and one lighter.
Now, the background is one of the things that I love about this. It's detailed, looks nice, and reflects on her...well...the night, it reflects on her.
Last I really like how well the body looks and such.
Her Eyes...Although I like them, I don't... I feel that they seem a little too glossy and reflective...It matches the style of the Artwork...yet it..seems off to me.
That's all I have to say on this piece, It's overall a good piece, a nice thing to look at, and that royal plot is incredible.
Vision I give it a 3 Looks good could use work. Originality A 4 Plot shots have been done before, normally a 3, but it has it's own style Technique a 5 because it's not seen often. Lastly A 4 to Impact. It's nice, but not super impacting.
and this is why luna is best princess i had always found her cuter then her sister. It always bothered me why they couldn't keep her first mane to me well i like the wavy one but she always was cuter with her first mane
I've thought that they changed it because with the original mane she looked a lot cuter and younger than Celestia and yet they had to make those two look like sisters (both have wavy manes) Dno.... even if original mane looks cute, the wavy one looks a bit more epic for me...
Your mostly right, although i believe it had something to do with her fitting more into the storyline properly. They didn't want somepony who was supposed to be over a thousand years old looking like a filly from the modern day Equestria.
Her new look, as you said, helps show that she is Celestia's sister, A member of pony royalty. At the same time though, it also made it seem that when NMM was removed from her, she fell from grace and had to regain her power.
Regardless of why they did it though, I agree with you in the end. While the original mane was cute, the new one is much more majestic and epic.
By the way, I love the pic, it captures her perfectly
